If you think thats big lore. Watch the caves and cliffs preview trailer. It shows that alex likes to mess with Steve. Steve dosent like to mine alone. Steve is scared of spiders. Steve has bad luck. Alex has good luck. Steve’s luck is so bad that it affects Alex.
some notes i took while reading the minecraft mobestiary
- this was written before the introduction of piglins but it mentions the conept of non-zombified pig men once living in the overworld. combining that with the fact piglins zombify in the overworld now makes me REALLY wonder what happened to them
- the phrase “we must be gentle with these tiny fellows” in the description of bats made me soft
- the book states that endermen use enderpearls to teleport rather than the enderpearls being part of them which… makes sense actually? i dont know why i never considered that.
- blaze rods smell of sulphur, apparently
- blazes are apparently “programmed” to protect nether fortresses? are they.. are they robots? finally a middleground for tango headcanons
- “the creepers permanently downturned mouth suggests a profound sadness” what.
- the diagram shows a literal tnt inside a creeper but the description states their explosions are caused by a build up of high-pressure gas. personally i prefer the latter explanation.

- also i like the mental image this author has given us of them repeatedly teleporting back and forth to figure out how frequently they can summon an endermite. mad scientist energy. mad zoologist.
- guardians are apparently hollow and organless, but may be carnivores. it isnt sure why theyre guarding a temple they obviously couldntve built themselves which…. once again a thing i never rlly considered. why is the minecraft world full of abandoned civilizations.
- magma cubes have a stony crush and molten core which i never rlly got from their design but is a cool visual
- on what vexes are: “if they are demonic, we have as yet discovered no evidence of vexes in the nether” wait. DEMONS REAL? nether demons?? real?????
