Top 10 people in Hermitcraft season 8 who deserved better:
1: No one. If any of the Hermits were genuinely upset about mildly unfinished projects and plotlines, they would have figured out a compromise as a group of friends and professionals. This is how Hermitcraft plot has always worked, and the animations and fancy plugins don’t change anything about that. Each of them pulled off a stunning end to a glorious season and I wouldn’t want anything different.

i’m just a dsmp fan who sees it get mentioned on mcyt blogs occasionally and i thought it was comparatively lighter, why am i hearing about the moon destroying the planet or whatever

So as best as we can figure out, several hermits did 3rd Life (a limited-time hunger-games type series that turned into dramatic roleplay), fell in love with the concept of lore in minecraft, and decided to implement it in the main series. Note that this series has been primarily a building and/or restoring series for the previous seven seasons.
So they secretly coded a mod that made the moon grow bigger and bigger over a series of weeks, slowly destroying the server, which in-game they attempted to alleviate via a variety of methods (cults, moon monks practicing human sacrifice, cold hard science, denial). Nothing worked. The moon destroyed the server. The hermits are scattered across reality, if they weren’t killed on impact. End of Season 8, have a great holiday.
There is a game called Ten Candles that I was going to play with friends before the pandemic hit, and had to postpone. It’s played with ten real flames, put out one by one.
The premise is that you are a group at the end of the world, and seeing what you give up or cling to at the end of the world. What you deny, what you accept. Who you become, and how you face the end. Who’s left when the table goes dark.
Anyways I’ve just been thinking about that game, with hermitcraft today.
