my current interpretation of empires joel is that he’s just some dude who stumbled across a magical fountain and asked for all the things humans ask for, inadvertently earning himself an unplayable debt to a yet unknown god. joel however does genuinely believe he has achieved some sliver of godhood because he’s tall and hot now and most people just take his word for it
look false’s whole thing so far delights me so much. she just went to sleep in her bed at her house and woke up in a bed on the side of a mountain (after having dreams about that happening for days), got dragged into a conversation with the eleven other emperors, went through a strange portal to discover there’s no dragon (with mild concern about the fact there was supposed to be a dragon in the first place), went back to the weird bed she woke up on, and went. “huh. this is all really strange. well time to build a house and wrangle some villagers.” and then she just rolls with all of this. she’s very lost and confused but in a very “sure I guess this is happening now” way not a panicking way. she’s just. very politely like “I guess I have transferred universes now”. I’m obsessed
