Hello, Last Life angst enjoyers! I have a very important question that just might shatter me in half depending on the answer:
Does /givelife work for a red life
Two players sit beside each other on a blood-soaked field.
The best armour and weapons on the server lie piled at their feet, stained. The best of the best, they wear, won by weeks and weeks of strategy and treachery and loyalty and pain, but still, they are weak and shivering. Their alliance has been fruitful, but it has cost them greatly. Half of the crimson soaking this spoil is their own. They are freezing, starving, emotionally and physically ruined from fighting their friends to the bitter end… but they have won. They are the last two left.
They are so, so tired.
But they know they can’t rest yet. The eyes of one flick sideways towards the other, a hand moving towards a sword - and then flinching away, drawing back into themselves in horror. They can’t. They’d always planned to do it, in the end, they thought they’d have what it takes to kill their ally for the final victory - but they just can’t. Not in cold blood, not after so long.
“How are we going to do this.” It is flat, not enough energy left for a question.
Their companion doesn’t look up.
“I said, how are we going to do this?” A pit of dread opens up in the player’s stomach, wider than they thought possible. They don’t want any more death, but they want this to end, they want it to end so badly that they can barely breathe…drawing it out isn’t going to change anything! Why is the other not answering, why are they making this so difficult -
“Better you than me.”
It’s barely audible.
The player feels a hand on their shoulder, feels it grip once, then slide off with a horrible, limp coldness. They catch their friend before their body hits the ground, ignoring the cheery burst of green and the ‘You have received a life!’ in the chat. They can do nothing. They can do nothing. They feel too alive, too revitalized, their heart beats strong and their friend won’t breathe and how could they have ever thought this would be better, curse them for ever thinking this was the easier way to go, curse them for being so selfishly selfless and not just gutting their friend where they stood like a good traitor, the way it was supposed to be, curse their beautiful, worn-out face so blank and still -
Thinking about the dichotomy of 3L Ren and LL Ren already
Thinking about how the first thing he did on 3rd Life was set up the enchanting shop. How it was intended to be a sort of community hub at first. How lively it started, with people always coming in and out. How so many other players were initially hesitant to do anything against Dogwarts because Ren had only been kind to them. How Ren spent the whole game alongside people who were willing to fight for him.
Thinking about how lonely Ren now is in Last Life. How quickly he got hostile when Tango and Skizz didn’t want to trade. How long he spent alone, trying and failing to make that farm. How his tower is specifically designed to keep people out. How it’s intentionally out of crouching earshot. How there’s only one way up and one way down, made so that he can quickly cut it off if need be.
I am so excited for more of 3rd Life- er, Last Life now! The fact that Grian managed to both win and lose a heart in the first episode already tells me we’re off to a really riveting start
Also here’s a fun little break down of how I think the heart / lives system works and is represented in the series!
Kinda like fancy tattoos that can appear anywhere on the body, so everyone’s hearts are in a different place, some more visible then others
