Open to both artists and writers, the extreme timed exchange offers the type of accelerated creation schedule normally only available to that person who signed up to pinch-hit the final yuletide gift at 2 in the afternoon with 15 hours to go to delivery (how did you do that).
Some exchanges are for ruminating on your assignment and carefully crafting a beautiful gift designed for your recipient’s exact likes, with several editing passes and a gracefully designed title. Betas are involved. You get references. You turn out something you’re proud of.
This one is for drinking a flat of energy drinks, reading your assignment letter in the middle of the night while you open a new file with your other hand, and writing the first thought that comes into your head while looping Sugar Crash for optimum focus. You have 48 hours to create. Half our participants decided to set the extra challenge of doing it in 24. You turn out something you’re proud of, but for completely different reasons than the other one.
We did it before, we didn’t learn our lesson, we’re trying it again. Come tell us if that sounds like fun (or terrible, we welcome all comments) and if we should do it fandom-specific or for literally every fandom someone wants to submit.
