Something amazing I saw on a Facebook group.

EDIT: Image description:

Photos are screenshots of a post from the facebook group Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. The poster says;

“Did something special for one of my players. He plays a Goliath barbarian and, after getting a big sum of gold thanks to card games, decked himself out with some magic items. One of which was a Robe of Useful Items. He pulled off the mastiff patch, giddy when I told him that they’d stay with no time limit, and named the pair Mater and Bater.

Fast forward to last session, the party is going up against an annis hag, two ogres, and two maw demons summoned by the hag. Bater bit into a maw demon, but the demon bit back and killed Bater in one attack.

The barbarian got really quiet after that. Even when he did talk about what he wanted to do for his turn, I could tell Bater dying hit him hard (he wanted to bring these dogs to the end of the world). As combat went on, I thought about it more and came up with a plan.

 Combat finished up and most went into scavenge/loot mode. And that’s when I put my plan into action. I told the barbarian that his still living mastiff came up to him with something in his mouth, half of a mastiff patch. The barbarian takes it, looks at it, and brings it close to the robe where the patch attaches itself like a magnet. A few moments pass until the barbarian feel a tug and the patch springs off back into his recently deceased mastiff. Bater has his head down but eyes up at his master, feeling like he failed his master. The barbarian doesn’t hesitate as he picks up Bater and hugs him while his face gets covered in slobber.

There’s nothing in the book about reusing patches, but I felt I’d make an exception in this special case to him especially given mastiffs aren’t that powerful.”

“What do tieflings eat?”

“I don’t know, souls?”

“Butter?”

“Children?”
