in case this was ambiguous, these are just the little pieces we have of manuscripts that are otherwise lost or too decayed to read.

We think of fragments of ancient, all-but-lost texts as deep, profound, and mystical knowledge, but some of them are just…this.

most of you are not familiar with aristophanes. very well then!

this guy was a Greek playwright who wrote in the 420’s BCE. we have 11 of his 40 known plays. He was very very fond of sex jokes, poop jokes, fart jokes, and making fun of contemporary figures in his plays.
